Dusty Slay

Dusty Slay, born on May 18, 1982, in Opelika, Alabama, has crafted a unique journey in the world of comedy. With a background rooted in blue-collar jobs, Slay’s comedic journey began in earnest when he left community college at 18 and faced various challenges, including an arrest at 19. This trajectory took him from Opelika to Charleston, SC, where he juggled roles as a waiter, pesticide salesman, and an open mic comedian. His experiences and relatable tales about growing up poor in a trailer park quickly resonated with audiences1.

Slay’s career got a significant boost after he committed to sobriety in 2012. His distinct voice and tales about his childhood in a trailer park, alongside his mother after his parents’ divorce, resonated with many, making him a favorite in Charleston12. He dabbled in improv in Charleston in 2004 and began his stand-up journey, which saw him moving to NYC and eventually settling in Nashville in 2014. Among his inspirations, Jeff Foxworthy stands out, and by 2019, Variety had listed him as one of “10 Comics To Watch.” Slay’s achievements include a special on Comedy Central, appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, and being a part of Netflix’s “The Standups” in 2021. He also hosts the “We’re Having A Good Time” podcast with his wife, Hannah, and is a co-host of the “Nateland” podcast2.

While Slay’s professional accomplishments are notable, he places significant importance on staying true to his roots and being near his family. Today, he lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Hannah, and their two children. He’s carved out a space for himself in the comedy landscape, emphasizing clean humor that everyone can enjoy, even when kids are present. This approach, rooted in his faith, seeks to unite audiences in laughter without delving into polarizing topics
