Who is Brian Regan?
Brian Regan (Brian Joseph Regan, born June 2, 1958, in Miami, Florida) is an American stand-up comedian. He is 68. He grew up in Westchester, Florida, one of eight children in a Catholic Irish-American family; his brother Dennis Regan is also a stand-up. He played wide receiver at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, planned to be an accountant, and left in his last semester in 1980 to do stand-up (he finished the degree in 1997). He is known for clean, observational comedy built on everyday things (shipping a package, the eye doctor, spelling bees) and for his physical, facial style. He made his late-night debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1991 and did 28 sets on Late Show with David Letterman, the last in 2015. His specials include Standing Up (2007) and The Epitome of Hyperbole (2008) on Comedy Central, Live From Radio City Music Hall (2015, Comedy Central’s first live stand-up special), and on Netflix Nunchucks and Flamethrowers (2017), the series Stand Up and Away! with Brian Regan (2018) and On the Rocks (2021). On screen he played Mugsy in Peter Farrelly’s Loudermilk and had his first film role in Chris Rock’s Top Five (2014).
