Who is Ron White?
Ron White (Ronald Dee White, born December 18, 1956, in Fritch, Texas) is an American stand-up comedian, actor and author, nicknamed “Tater Salad.” He is 69. He joined the U.S. Navy at 17 and served on the rescue and salvage ship USS Conserver near the end of the Vietnam War, and briefly lived in Mexico before comedy. He started performing in 1986 and opened for Sam Kinison and Jeff Foxworthy. In the early 2000s he toured with Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which sold out across the United States and led to three films and a satellite radio show. His albums include Drunk in Public (2003, certified Gold), You Can’t Fix Stupid (2006) and Behavioral Problems (2009), both No. 1 on the US comedy albums chart, and A Little Unprofessional (2013). His 2006 book I Had the Right to Remain Silent But I Didn’t Have the Ability was a New York Times best seller. He said in 2020 that he would retire from stand-up, but after the pandemic he went back to touring full time in 2021 and still plays theaters and casinos. In 2025 he played NASCAR driver Ron Dobbins on the Netflix comedy Tires.
