Who is Adam Sandler?
Adam Sandler (Adam Richard Sandler, born September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American comedian, actor, producer and writer. He is 60. He grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire, after his family moved there when he was six, and graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988. He first went on stage at 17, at his brother’s urging, and was playing comedy clubs when comedian Dennis Miller saw his act in Los Angeles and recommended him to Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels. He joined SNL as a writer and was a cast member from 1990 to 1995. His comedy albums, starting with They’re All Gonna Laugh at You! (1993) and What the Hell Happened to Me? (1996), both certified double platinum, mix songs and sketches. After two decades focused on film, he returned to stand-up on screen with the Netflix specials 100% Fresh (2018, directed by Steven Brill) and Love You (2024, directed by Josh Safdie), and has toured arenas regularly since 2016. He received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2023. His film career (from Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore to Uncut Gems and Jay Kelly) is beyond this page’s stand-up focus.
